Van Bellen - Let Me Take You On A Journey (Sébastien Léger Remix)

A few weeks ago German DJ and producer Van Bellen released his latest EP, ‘Let Me Take You On A Journey’ on Marc Romboy’s label, Systematic Recordings. The new EP features two different versions of the track, remasters of the original which was released in 1997, as well as remixes from Guy Mantzur, Roy Rosenfeld, and Sebastien Leger. Leger’s remix in particular is phenomenal. The track opens with an energy building electro-synth riff that elicits the feeling that something big is about to happen. As it builds, a crunchy, almost robotic vocal track gradually fades in until the beat drops with an insanely powerful snare and a beautiful, spacy melody. It feels like it could have been pulled straight out of The NeverEnding Story. The Frenchman got his start DJing in the 90’s as the ‘French touch’ movement was just getting its start. Leger found much inspiration from fellow French contemporaries such as Daft Punk and Laurent Garnier. His style is as broad as his tastes with releases in a wide range of genres. He has done techno, electro, house, and just about everything in between. ‘Oasis’, which came out on last year’s Temple of Lions 04, is a stunning exploration of Middle East inspired sounds. Comparing it to a track like his remix of ‘Take You On A Journey’ truly highlights Leger’s range as a producer.Thanks again to the guys over at Space Yacht for throwing a spectacular rooftop BBQ yesterday!
