Track of the Day: Tom Glass - Doodleedoo

Going with this magical tune from Tom Glass today. I used this as the second song in my mix this week. This track by itself takes you on a wonderful journey. With basically three acts to the song, the first act is basically introducing all of the parts hinting at a bigger story to come but leaving it completely absent. Starting off with meandering synths that sounds like a clarinet and a flute diverging and then coming back together and a few choice percs. The bass line comes in shortly giving the track some breadth and power. Next to the party is an harp plucking its way up and down the scales giving the whole thing this very fantastical feel. The Second act begins with the exit of the bass line as the harps and synth slowly draw themselves back the make room for the main character a didgeridoo sound (that sounds like someone is say "The Rhythm" over and over again) which finally appears to take us to the climax and finale. Bringing all of the characters back for one final battle before they ride off into the sunset. I love the natural progression of it and how it just completely threw me off guard. This is my first time coming across Polish producer Tom Glass. He is not a man of many words so I had to really do some searching to find out more about him. Today's track is one of three off of his latest EP for Hope Records. Hope seems to be where he has found a home as his releases on beatport indicate. It was where his first release came from in 2009 and several others. Seems like one half of Way Out West, Music God and head of A & R for Hope Records, Nick Warren takes a real fancy in his work, which is a good enough endorsement for me. My only disappointment is it took me this long to discover him. His SoundCloud description is simple and to the point: "I'm just making music which makes some people happy.. and some not." Today Mr. Glass has made me happy and I'm sure many others. If you have yet to check out my mix from this week it's right there below. As I said earlier this track is the second on the mix and I will be reviewing a few others from the mix the rest of the week. Thanks for listening.PZB
