Track of the Day: Unique (Cro) & Paperclip Project - Behind The Shadow

I got a nice surprise this week with a new release from Natura Viva Black. It is one of the labels I have really been enjoying as of late and was delighted to see my good friend from Croatia, Unique along with Paperclip Project, were responsible for their latest release. Figured I would surprise him and include it as our track of the day today from LAMP. The EP consists of two well crafted techno groovers that are certain to keep bodies moving well on till sunrise and beyond. Of the two I found my self drawn to "Behind The Shadow". Characterized by a bubbly organ arpeggio that has a light and airy feel the song itself takes on a bit of a darker theme as put forth in the title. A soft kick and snare/cymbal pattern make up the majority of the groove along with a continuous perc ride tapping away in the background. My favorite part of the track is when they introduce this detuned set of two synth notes that play back and forth with each other. At the 2 minute mark is where you can first here it and then again through out the rest of the song. Whining pads utilizing the Doppler effect that sound like trains passing by with their horns blaring add a nice touch really adding to the overall atmosphere of the song. Going to be adding this one to the regular rotation for a while I think. Make sure to check out the other track from them as well down below.
