Track of the Day: K.A.M.A. - Play The Game
Hey LAMP family! I'm taking over from PZB today as he's getting his computer fixed in the shop (which is never fun situation to be in). As such I dove into my latest collection of promos, demos, and downloads to pick something juicy for a Friday night. After spending far too long downloading music, I finally landed on a wicked tune called 'Play the Game' from one of my favorite labels 303 Lovers. It's our first time featuring Italian producer, K.A.M.A. on the Track of the Day series so I was very excited to dive into some of his other releases as well.I thoroughly enjoyed listening to all 3 tracks from this EP, but the one that stood out to me the most was 'Play The Game' and to put it simply I'm a sucker for big, deep, bassline grooves. The track really doesn't mess about as it only has a quick 30 second intro before the aforementioned bass synth kicks in. It practically runs the entire length of the song which really gives you something to hold on to as the composition progresses. As is evident by some of his other productions, K.A.M.A has firm grasp on arranging some fantastic drums. The breakdown has a relentless snare roll that loops over and over with some "Ahh" vocals and a clean white noise riser building right back into that saw wave lead. It's the soft reveal of that saw wave that slowly peels back as the cutoff envelope modulates that keep this track really interesting. It's the perfect jam for getting that dancefloor shaking. Top notch!!Check out the full EP belowK.A.M.A. is billed as one of Italy's best kept secrets, and to some extent I can agree with that and he's firmly on my radar now. On top of this awesome EP via 303 Lovers, K.A.M.A. has also featured on one of my favorite DJ tools series called Little Helpers, as well as Barcelona imprint Elrow music. He's also no stranger to the club circuit playing alongside the likes of John Digweed, Claudio Coccoluto, Chus & Ceballos and many more. While only officially releasing tracks for the last few years, this recent collection of music certainly bodes well for a promising career for the Italian.Enjoy,MR PUZL
