Track of the Day: Tomy DeClerque – Rusted Flute
As we get ready to enjoy the fruits of our labors this weekend and usher in the unofficial end of the summer, I wanted to share with you a banger of a track and one of my favorites I have been listening to all summer. 'Rusted Flute' by Tomy Declerque was released early June for the legend Carl Cox's label Intec Digital. I havent had a chance to see him yet this year but am hoping when I do he plays Tomy's track. I am in love with every bit of it. So much groove in this track. It starts out immediately banging away with its massive round kick and menagerie of percussive elements and doesn't let up for just over 8 minutes. Add in the tweaked out flute element and it gives the track a ton of character. One of the things I love about this style of techno is how it feels like the beat never stops. Even in the buildups and breakdowns there is still so much going on it feels like the kick never drops out. It just constantly drives away in series of ebbs and flows that take the listener on a fantastic journey.I had the pleasure of meeting Tomy last summer when I was in Croatia for the Kanegra Beach Festival who was also a fellow performer at the festival from previous years. Being very familiar with the burgeoning music scene in the Balkan region. I have been listening to Tomy's work for quite sometime. He is one of several amazing talents from the area. Highly sought after for the energy and variety he brings to his music. Having had releases on some of the big labels such as Moon Harbour, Toolroom, CR2, and Blu Fin to name a few. You can see for yourself in the video above. For all my techno heads I strongly suggest subscribing to this channel on youtube. Once a month he uploads a new video of him mixing his top 10 tracks. Essentially his own personal Boiler Room. Worth Checking out plus its a pretty solid source for great new music if your into this style. Its great to have an opportunity to share some of the music from all of the amazing producers from that region. Not sure I would ever have known who some of these guys were had it not been for the Maric brothers, Stefan and Matija from Kanfanar. Hoping I will be back next summer for the next Kanegra Beach festival. If you've never been to that part of the world, GO! Thanks Tomy for an awesome track, now get out there and dance your weekend away!Oh and if techno isn't your flavor today just put this on and house yourself into the weekend with Shark Faicols latest guest mix for LAMP.
