Track of the Day: Stefano Noferini - The Place (Jesse Perez Remix)

Sensing a bit of an Italian theme here this week. Totally unintentional but a testament to all of the great music that the Italians are putting forth in house and tech house recently. The label boss of Deeperfect and one of the kings of all things house Stefano Noferini is constantly at it with releases coming at you from all over the place. He recently put out his latest EP for Deeperfect "The Place" which also includes a remix from Jesse Perez. While not even close to being Italian (at least I dont think he is) the boss of Mr Nice Guy records and producer for some heavy hitting labels in house like Hot Creations, and I'm A House Gangster, Perez has established himself as one of the top names when it comes to bass heavy house grooves. This latest remix of "The Place" is a perfect example of the hard hitting, ass shaking house music he has become known for. A funky groove sets the tone as the track kicks off taking on a sort of African tribal vibe with some congas and a heavy helping of sub bass booming along with it. What makes this track so great is the dynamics of the arrangement. It has a really smooth flow from one section to the next. Highlighting and really adding a nice dose of character to the track is a spoken word/slam poetry style vocal. I am not sure where is is sampled from but just fits perfectly into place on this track. Perez was just recently here in LA with the L'Affaire & Orlove Entertainment crew and I heard it was an incredible evening. I am bummed I missed it but I will be keeping a close eye out for his return. In the meantime make sure to check out some of his other productions down below. Enjoy.
