Track of the Day: Lexa Hill - I Am Not Techno
With our guest mix this week from Sante Sansone and today's track of the day we are keeping the Italian and Glasgow Underground connections strong. Essentially starting from the ground floor Lexa Hill has been been getting a great deal of support from the best DJ's and producers the world has to offer. In the 5 years or so since Lexa Hill began the project he has been building a great catalog that has really taken off in the last year or so with releases from Go Deeva, Snatch, Nervous, Man Without a Clue and todays release from Glasgow Underground. Having been in the business for two decades, working for some of the bigger names in electronic dance music early on, the re envisioned Lexa Hill (He formerly produced under the name of Alex Colle) is a project set to explore some of the more "Old School" vibes of the 90's set to more modern house grooves. A perfect lead in to our track of the day "I Am Not Techno". Techno he is not but if you arent careful you might find youself deep down the rabbit hole with this track. The track starts off with a bouncy synth arpeggio with a little bit of a dark and ominous vibe to it and a strait four on the floor kick. The energy of the track builds up around the synth arpeggio as a couple of old school funk vocal samples prepare the listener for the beast of a bass line that is about to be laid upon them. Thunderous is a word that comes to mind. Once this monster kicks in it drives relentlessly playing really well with the arpeggio synth from the beginning of the track ducking in and out, helping it pop in the mix in a really interesting way. This is my first time coming across Lexa Hill and I am really enjoying this style and looking forward to hearing more from him in the near future. I'll link a few of his other productions down below so you can get a feel for the unique style he is bring to the table. Enjoy.
