Track of the Day: Sebastien Leger - Eurorack Jam

It's Modular Monday here at LAMP. Giving Mikey the day off to bring you this really cool video from Sebastien Leger. He is someone that we have great respect for over here and have featured a few of his past tracks. Last night I came across this video he posted to his YouTube Channel of him jamming out on his Eurorack Modular a couple days ago. While I admit I don't know much about Modular Synths I am extremely fascinated by them. I have spent a fair amount of time trying to better understand and learn more about them but feel like I am just scratching the surface of what is out there. There are endless varieties of Modular Synths out on the market. Some are simple keyboards with different patch cables like the Korg MS-20 or the Moog. Others are racks of different modules that consist of different types of Oscillators, voltage controls, envelopes and others that allow the producer sitting at the controls to shape the sounds they want to come out of the synthesizer. When you start building racks they can be come quite sophisticated and massive. There are some modular synths that consist of so many racks/modules that they take up entire walls. I have seen a couple that take up entire rooms. The beauty of them is there is no end to what you can add and the ability to be extremely creative is quite apparent in today's video from Leger. I'm not sure if he had planned this video ahead of time or if it was truly an off the cuff jam session. Regardless it is an impressive display and a cool insight to how this amazing producer works in his studio to create some of the amazing sounds he has been producing during his career. I posted a few pictures of some other types of modular synths for you all to see what I'm talking about. There is also a list of all the modules used in the info for the video so go check it out and enjoy!
