Track of the Day: nuemp - The Hain
Track of the Day: Nuemp - The Hain
Nearly two years and 99 weekly mixes later we prepare for tomorrow's release of number 100 from yours truly with Monday's Track of the Day. It has been amazing to see what this little side project has morphed in the almost two years since it began as a short mix put together mostly by myself and Mr Puzl. We have been fortunate to see the series grow and gain notoriety along with the addition of our guest mix artists who have added some incredible contributions. I have put together a 25 track mix that will take you on a sonic adventure featuring new tracks and old from some of my favorite artists and labels as well as some that are completely new to me.Such is the case with today's artist nuemp. Introducing the world to his resplendent style of techno, 'The Hain' is one of two original tracks for this newcomer from Switzerland on his debut release from AYM Records. Starting of with a round booming kick and some light, uplifting synths flowing throughout the background 'The Hain' quickly takes on a very emotional tone. This track is all about progression. The massive lead synth drives the track, as it climbs the scales to reach some of the highest octaves, building energy and filling the air. Along with the kick, a vibrant bass line helps drive the track and keep it from ever feeling like it slows down. This makes the track feel like one continuous build that pays off in full as the track softly winds down leaving the listener full and satisfied but ready for more. You know. Like when you just crushed your first plate at the best buffet on the planet and you're like "damn that was good, I don't need anymore but I could definitely put some more of that in my belly". Kinda like that but for your ears.As I mentioned before this is nuemp's debut album for AYM records headed up by fellow Swiss compatriot Nigh Talk. The label owner and producer/DJ Night Talk (Lukas Horst) says of this release, ”I’m proud to welcome my good friend Noah, aka nuemp, with his first release ever on AYM. Knowing Noah already for a long time I was watching his musical development over the last couple of years and when he showed me Bug Of June I knew I had to release this. Besides the title track the EP features another original production by nuemp and two remixes by myself and our fellow hometown friend Amadeus Paulussen who takes you on an epic 11-minute-ride.“ nuemp’s Bug of June EP is darkly beautiful and hauntingly familiar as the omnipresent night sky."I chose this track today because I feel it represents many aspects of what I enjoy most about listening to music and what I embody when trying to put together the weekly mixes as well as sets when I perform live. For me it's all about the journey. It's not about how many cool tracks I can jam into a mix or sounds into a track, but how I can make all of those sounds and tracks come together to tell a story. Some people will relate to the story while others will not. nuemps story telling ability is definitely up to par in my book and I look forward to hearing more from this upcoming talent.Make sure to check back tomorrow as I bring you our 100th weekly mix. It's been a fun journey to 100 and I look forward to the adventure on our way to number 200. Thank you for joining us along the way.
