Track of the Day: Hot Since 82 - Warnings

LAMP-totd-hot-since-82 The LAMP crew took a much needed break yesterday to consume a bit more than our daily dose of music. That being said we've been receiving some incredible unreleased material over the past week and will be excited to share some that next week when we head into our 100th episode of the LAMP Weekly Mix series! Our very own PZB will be doing the honors, bringing you some of latest sounds from around the globe and weaving them all together as only he can do. Today I woke up in a tryptophan daze and began my morning with coffee in hand browsing my emails and streams when I came across this gem from Hot Since 82. In culmination with the RA end of Year DJ and Live Act polls Daley was in the giving mood today and released a brand new tune, 'Warnings' as a Free Download. While it's a ply for some votes (not that he needs the help) we're not complaining as this tune does not disappoint.

The track opens up with a full array of sounds that really don't let up until the main breakdown. A rolling bassline is paired with a host of high energy percussive layers that charge forward. Staggered clap and snare rolls chime in as a gritty stabbing synth pushes it way into the foreground between vocals cuts. The breakdown is long and epic with a very cool panning horn like synth that echoes in and as a whole is done tastefully; really only in a way that '82 could pull off. There are some really big open tom hits in this transition that keep some of those lower frequencies alive during such a length break providing important variation to keep its audience engaged. The jump off afterwards is beautiful and layered with the infectious main piano loop that creates the wonderful deep harmony as the main groove pulsates with every kick. From start to finish this vocally charged deep house roller is just the kind of thing we at LAMP can be thankful for!Not that this man needs much of any introduction but if you haven't had the opportunity definitely go check out his latest EP 'Damage / Veins' we recommend doing so.
