No Cocaine – Slightly Stoopid

Slightly Stoopid's 2010 tune 'No Cocaine' is one of those slow grooving reggae rock songs that can settle any soul and heal the heart with a host of ethereal soundscapes and dreamy harmonies. A delightfully peaceful organ melody greets our ears in the opening bars of the song before we are cast into a rhythmic trance of open percussions beats, Miles Doughty soothing voice and strung out electric guitar riffs. So if you've had a rough week kick off those shoes, crack open a fresh one and spark up and let you worries float away. One of my favorite tracks 'Wiseman' is acoustic bliss, sorry no embed code available. This also a sweet jam:Growing up near a beach in Florida as a kid it was only natural for me to indulge the sounds of psychedelic rock, punk, reggae, and all other forms of slwo grooving music. Bradley Nowell and his merry band of men would usually dominate our sunset playlists and early morning wakeboarding rides. It was through the sounds of Sublime that I eventually started listening to Slightly Stoopid, and host of other California reggae bands. The band was originally signed by Bradley Nowell to his label Skunk Records while the members were still in high school! These guys are seriously talented musicians and deserve some proper listening sessions, and if you're lucky catching a live set.I'm thoroughly impressed by their Soundcloud curation, that no only contains their tunes but curated playlists of some of their favorite artists and songs. Here a small selection of their more recent work, to get into some of their older stuff you'll have to do it the old fashioned way and get off your ass and buy some CDs or records:Listen to this and other reviewed tracks from the week on our latest Guest Mix by DJSB below:Enjoy,MR PUZL
