Track of the Day: Moderat - Running (KiNK Remix)

It was another easy choice today seeing that I am beyond excited for the opportunity to catch Moderat live this weekend at Lightning in a Bottle. Today we have a brand new remix from Bulgarian producer KiNK. This incredibly talented DJ and producer of house and techno has been at it since he was just a kid and today we present his latest remix of 'Running' from III the latest album from Moderat. Literally hooked on this song once I heard it for the first time. The intro grabs you right off with the vocal stabs and high register synths bouncing in perfect sync with each other. Not long after the bass line and sub bass kick in and reverberate through your whole body. When the pads (which sound a little like those Brass/Copper and Crystal Singing bowls) join into the mix about half-way through I feel a little like I am floating. One thing this remix is lacking from the original is any of the vocal. While I think the vocal track from 'Running' is incredible I don't think this track needs any of the vocal to be honest. You can check out the original below and you certainly should, along with the rest of III when you get a chance. Also if you are at Lightning in A Bottle this weekend you should probably check them out.We had another remix from KiNK he made for Pets Recordings a while back before we really had our format solidified. Figured it was about time we did another one for KiNK who really did a fantastic job reworking 'Running'. As mentioned before the he hails from Bulgaria where he has been making a living producing for Bulgarian pop stars along with his own slew of original productions and remixes. He is part of many musical families such as Pets Recorings, Josh Wink's Ovum Records, and the Dirtybird crew as well. His first release coming all the way back in 2005 he has been highly sought after for his ability to work the decks as well. Sharing booths with legends like Laurent Garnier and a regular during the summer at multiple locations in Ibiza, KiNK is also versed in a variety of other genres, underground hip-hop being one of them he is highly skilled in. His Soundcloud doesnt have half of the music he has produced so you might have to do a little digging if you want more but here are a couple more for you I found.
