Track of the Day: Matador - The Enemy ft Felix Da Housecat (Julian Jeweil Remix)

You might be wondering if you have seen this here before. The answer is yes and no. It is no secret my fascination with Matador. Very few artist have I ever come across that have the ability to bring it so hard with every track that he produces. I follow just about every release he puts out. With the launch of his new label Rukus he has been very busy releasing new music from his album Ructions. We talked about the original of 'The Enemy' (down below) when it was released as part of a teaser EP back in February. Next week Rukus will release two remixes of 'The Enemy', one from Hot Since 82 and this one up above we chose for today from Julian Jeweil. I love how this remix just chugs away with the bass lines. It is not a massive departure from the original version, but it does take on a slightly more minimalist feel. I'm not saying I think the track is minimal. Nope, this is techno through and through. Was actually really excited to see Jeweil's name on that remix package to be honest. Dude has been making some of the best techno for the last 10 years.Case and point in the track up above. This song stopped me in my tracks. It is just one example of this French producers talents. He has remixed Deadmau5, held down multiple spots in the beatport top 10, At the same time!!! A slew of releases with the best techno labels on the planet (Minus, Cocoon, Form, Suara, etc) has given Jeweil some serious credentials, over the last few years especially. He is tirelessly working on remixes for any number of artists, while traveling from city to city to play with the likes of Richie Hawtin, Popof, Oxia, Matt Tolfrey, Jay Lumen, Sian and so many more. He has been producing some of the finest techno my ears have been fortunate enough to hear since he first crossed my radar back in 2007 with 'Air Conditionné'. It got remix treatments from one of my all time favorites, Sebastien Leger. Dont forget Mark Broom, and Umek as well so I was on it and have continued to follow him pretty closely through out the last 9 almost 10 years. The track above is only one from a new EP of his I highly recommend checking out. If you are ever in one of those techno moods Jeweil can surely satisfy.
