If you are one of our regular followers (thank you!!!) then you will know my love for the Irishman Matador. I fricking LOVE Matador. So my excitement levels are pretty much at an all time high right now with the recent release of his first full length album 'Ructions' for his label Rukus Records. If it were up to me and quite frankly it is I would write about each song every day like it was the 12 days of Christmas. One first day of Christmas my true love gave to me; Matador- "Strings of Life". Seriously though we dont have enough days in the week to do that so we will focus on just this one for today. This track is not what I have come to expect on the regular from Matador. I am enjoying it just as much though for it's change of pace, not the typical mechanical driving four on the floor grooves he is known for. 'Strings of Life' is really like taking a big breath of fresh air. With big booming bass notes on the Piano and a spirited synth plucking away at the break beat groove Matador slows things down a bit and gets super melodic. A perfect track to wind down with after a long week of work or heavy night of dancing.So yeah definitely not doing 12 days of Matador although that would have been fun. I would however like for you to check out the full 12 track EP which you can sample above. There honestly is not a single track that I don't like. We actually featured a few of the tracks off his EP 'The Enemy' when he release a few of them earlier in the year if you want to go back and check that out. He is currently on tour spreading the gospel of his music and am happy to say he will be making a stop at one of my favorite venues Sound in Los Angeles at the end of May so do yourself a favor and go check him out.
