Track of the Day: Agent! - Can U Dig It?

We haven't posted anything from Get Physical in quite a while. If you are not familiar make sure you get there as it is one of the most consistent and quality house labels in existence. I have been playing out and listening to this track from Agent! quite a bit since its release mid March. It is his debut release for the label and the reactions have been great. For me personally its one of those tracks I can put on repeat and not want to throw myself off a ledge after listening to it over and over. Besides the fact that it is a Get Physical track the title is what initially drew me to the track. 'Can U Dig It' is a line from a movie that came out in 1979 called 'The Warriors'. It is a classic cult film about a New York Gang turf war. Maybe not the best movie ever but worth a watch one day if you got nothing else to do. Naturally I thought to myself, I wonder if Agent! sampled the lines from the movie. Sure enough that's what he did. I have heard this sample used many times before but the arrangement Agent! uses is fantastic. He does a great job of incorporating the crowd noises in there and is careful not to over use the vocal. A crunchy bass line, round booming kick and chopped percussion give the groove a rolling tech house vibe that makes you wanna move and shake all night. Check out the video from the movie below for some context. I can certainly dig it!Andreas Agent! Schreck is new to me according to my brain right now. Coming from Germany Agent! has been making music and filling dance floors since at least 2008 when he played at the legend Sven Vath's Cocoon Club. He is a member of the Cocoon Label as well as Republic Artists between that and his releases with Heinz has got me thinking I must have some of his other tracks and haven't been paying close enough attention. Regardless I am really digging what I have been hearing while sitting here writing this review. His credentials definitely speak for themselves with DJ appearances at some of the biggest night clubs around the world and an extremely packed touring schedule over there in Europe and elsewhere. Check out some of his other releases below and dive into his page if you want more. Enjoy.
