'The Layout' is an appropriate description of what this track can do on proper speakers...put you on your ass. Kalyde returns with a stella EP in 'Infected Ear' and this B-side tune is primed and ready for your late night warehouse shenanigans. No holds barred on this intro. The track kicks off in true techno fashion with a harsh percussion pounding to the face along with an array of dark synth pads and a beckoning vocal loop that entices the listener to crawl deeper into a damp cavernous chamber. Like a spider to its web the song traps you with its beautiful drop, a wonderfully crafted low end bass and kick combo that will entrance the dance floor with every infectious beat. 4 mins in we're provided with a small bit of respite as the breakdown strips down its layers calculating a strong build to the return of that wonderful drop. With no end in sight the track definitely demonstrates a lack of willingness to play with others so be prepared to follow up this tune with some just as powerful or your audience may be severely underwhelmed.Raised in Detroit and now hailing from Bristol (UK) Kalyde has entered the techno / tech house fray willingly and with purpose. Only 6 months into his releases (as we can gather from his Soundcloud and little else) his productions have already garnered attention within the community with the likes of THUMP, Annie Mac and a Guest Mix for Rinse FM. His last release on Mad Tech exemplifies the dexterity of this talented producer and even garnered attention and a remix from fellow Brit, Applebottom.
