James Curd - Forever My Friend

James Curd soothes the soul with 'Forever My Friend' a light hearted dance affair full of delightful harmonies and calm vocals beckoning everlasting friendship. The track opens with up with a clean crisp drum sequence that is draped with ambient ocean waves softly crashing to shore setting up one of the coolest intros to a dance track I've ever heard in a long while. Deep resonating bass synths build on the intro lending to a dreamy like sequence of chord progressions gradually building into a gorgeous flutter of keys from the Rhodes solo. This breakdown in and of itself bring such a pleasant variation to the song that when the chorus comes in they seem to be so naturally paired together. Although the track is labeled as dance it really embodies more of a recording of a live performance... something I would very much like to see someday."After spending a couple months scoring a feature film I wanted to blow off some steam and make something I would like to play in a club. I love throwing curve balls into songs and try to imagine what a crowded club will do when a 16 bar rhodes solo comes out of nowhere. It's my version of a build up and drop with out the soft synths." - James CurdCheck out the full EP release below:This Jack Be Nimble EP comes out on Exploited Records a Berlin based imprint that has recently dropped Claptone's latest single and has hosted the likes of Doctor Dru, Dayne S, Purple Disco Machine, Joyce Muniz and many many more. James Curd has been around the scene since he was snuck into clubs at the age of 15 to spin records. He has gone through several creative transformations and aliases each with their distinct style but carrying through a consistent quality and passion that is evident in each release. Growing up in the bastions of Chicago's legendary house scene the young producer would eventually release his own material at the age of 19 for Parisian label Basenotic. From there he would go on to remix and collaborate with a slew of artists, as well as feature his music in several films and recently score a soundtrack. This eclectic artist demonstrates an aptitude for production, a panache for style, and the resilience of tested veteran. I look forward to hopefully seeing this guy in LA at some point soon.Listen to this and other tracks from this week's reviews on our very special Guest Mix by none other than PLASTIC PLATES!Enjoy,MR PUZL
