Track of the Day: IMIURU - B With U
This week we've got another fantastic duo gracing our #weeklymix airwaves. GRYN packaged up a solid mix for us this week and have a healthy selection of tracks for us to dive into for our #trackoftheday reviews. Today we're kicking off with Junior Sanchez's new project IMIURU and 'B With U', a rebirth of his seminal classic.
IMIURU - B With U
Much like the original, Dajae's beautiful voice rings through layers of classic styled synth leads and swinging percussive rhythms. While clearly it's own beast, the track echoes so much of what we loved from the original release with classic house guitar riffs, raw percussive layers, funky bass line grooves. The joy of coming back to old projects is having a fresh perspective, and the challenge is about trying to make it truly different to avoid the standard VIP Mix labeling. Sanchez does well to nurture modern tastes and his own creative developments to form a new composition, cleverly deconstruct the best bits about the original and present it as a new piece of art (one of a handful of compliments I could inherently give this track). The electric guitar riffs melted together with high pitched horns and Dajae's looping vocals paint scenes of classic disco and funk music videos from yesteryear while a deep plush bass line adds a more sultry attitude to the track. Snap this track up immediately and treat your audience to some good old fashioned dancefloor house. Here's what the legend had to say about his own track:"For years I've been asked to do something new with the Junior Sanchez track "B With U" which features the amazing vocalist Dajae. I was asked to re-do it, re-release it, or have others remix it, because they called it a 'house classic' (which I never could). So, as I was messing with grooves in my kitchen, I just felt this was right for the reincarnation of the track - even though it's not! IMIURU's "B With U" is a track all its own but with a real feel so reminiscent of that so-called classic, with splashes of Dajae's vocals and an insane breakdown. When I sent this to Jesse Rose he automatically knew how special this was. And from that moment, a great relationship bloomed with the A-SIDED crew, who all have impeccable taste in house music!" - IMIURU (aka Junior Sanchez)For a bit of nostalgia check out the original below:Being just the sixth release from A-Sided, and second from IMIURU, sees this newly formed label making their mark right from the get go. The label's credentials are backed from it's well known founder Jesse Rose and support from the likes of Oliver Dollar, Crookers, Treasure Fingers and Claude Von Stroke (who also collaborated for their first official release). Since the label launch at party at Rhonda back in March there's been a steady output of releases featuring the likes of Dansson, Sanchez and Rose himself and a series of phenomenal podcasts including a mesmerizing mix from Dick Johnson. Subscribe, Follow, Like, whatever.. just stay locked on this label. We certainly will be!Check out IMIURU's first release 'The Grandma', a perfectly timed rework of the infamous 'CoCo' tune by O.T.
