Track of the Day: Emes - Huwasi

Right from the start 'Huwasi' grabbed my attention. Coming straight at you with a massive kick, side-chained with a sort of white noise pad, it takes on a driving techno tone right away and stays that way through out, minus one short and well arranged breakdown two-thirds of the way through. Quickly introducing bit by bit the different elements that make up the whole track, it's like a surprise waiting around every corner as Emes plays with them in the finished arrangement. He makes great use of sub bass throughout the whole track along with a couple of plucky synths that sort of remind me of some of the stuff Matador produces. I particularly like the big battle horn he uses occasionally with in the arrangement. Not what I was expecting when he first sent it to me but was very pleasantly surprised from the get go. I take my techno very seriously and this track is one I very much look forward to playing at my next gig out in the desert for sure.Emes who is currently based in Los Angeles is one of those guys who is working his ass off behind the scenes making moves you'll never know about. He is someone I came across while out and about at different shows. You name it and he was there. One day I went up to him and we got to chatting. He is one of the most motivated and genuine people I have met here in Los Angeles. Huwasi I believe is his first original production and compared to his other hip hop inspired remixes it is quite the step in a different direction. Illustrating his diverse tastes in music which was evident when I would catch him at an Main Course night followed by you name it house and techno nights at Sound and Space Yacht and everywhere in between. Not to mention working for Buygore Records he has his hands full. Some how he still finds time to help out with other side projects like our new Space Disco rooftop parties, the Nap Girls, Free Grilled Cheese and I am sure there are more. It is a pleasure to be able to share his new track with you. Also if you have yet to do so go check out our weekly guest mix from New York's Greco. Enjoy and have a great weekend.
