With Josh’s recent travels we switched the batting order around a bit this week. That leaves me batting clean-up with a new release from Eagles & Butterflies.Chris Barratt, better known by his moniker Eagles & Butterflies, dropped his latest EP last week and it is predictably full of heaters. ‘Murder Was The Bass / Fireworks / Moonlight’ marks the LA-based, English-born producer’s return to John Digweed’s Bedrock Records. While ‘Murder Was The Bass’ promises to be a banger all summer this year, the new EP’s B-side is just as noteworthy. It is comprised of a pair of monster tech house tracks in ‘Moonlight’ and ‘Fireworks’. ‘Moonlight’ is a really cool track with a sense of ominousness. A deep, rumbling bassline and an electro-synth melody highlight the track as it builds energy and makes you feel like something huge is about to happen. Throw this one on at the pregame this weekend when you are trying to get the squad amped up to hit the town.[soundcloud url="https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/245050585" params="color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false" width="100%" height="166" iframe="true" /][soundcloud url="https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/245050594" params="color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false" width="100%" height="166" iframe="true" /]Eagles & Butterflies has already had a busy one in 2016. With this latest release he has tracks out on Bedrock, KNM, Exit Strategy, and Get Physical just this year. Since his 2014 debut ‘The Butterfly Effect’ on his own label, Spread Your Wings, E&B has had somewhat of a meteoric rise. His tunes have been championed by the likes of Tale Of Us, Damian Lazarus, Richie Hawtin, and of course, John Digweed who tapped E&B to perform live at the Bedrock Showcase at this year’s BPM festival. If he keeps this up Eagles & Butterflies is a name that you will hear a lot of over the next few years.[soundcloud url="https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/242860063" params="color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false" width="100%" height="166" iframe="true" /]
