Track of the Day: Luuk Van Dijk - Rock Da Disco
With the release of our latest Guest Mix courtesy of our east coast bud Greco we welcomed a host of new tracks, artists and labels to research and review. Being half Dutch I was inclined to do a review on today's track of the day 'Rock Da Disco' by Luuk Van Dijk of his House Masters EP for Roush Label. The four track EP is a host of classic house infused tracks ranging from rough synths to dynamic vocal harmonies.

A fast, panning subtractive (possibly analog) pad lightly glosses over the upper registers to open up the track introducing an 80s electro sythwave feel to the track. The initial rhythm is made up of a muffled kick, sharp staccato closed hi-hat and a very subtle but effective double-timed perc pad that clicks in time with the hat hits. Another environmental synth pad dissolves as the track progress introducing a superb, downright funky bassline groove. The follow up reveals a host of additional percussion layers that include a phased out snare, cowbells, rapid fire drum rolls that pair with equally awesome analog saw stabs to create dynamic transitions. The release is slated as a Dub mix which possibly infers that there was a vocal version that they couldn't get clearance for, so we hope to hear more about it.
