Track of the Day: DEVolution - Gio Feat. Yeah Boy

I'm back this week with a host of new music courtesy of an awesome tracklist from our new guest Maikol. We'll be dropping his Guest Mix tomorrow and can't wait to share it with you all. Today I'm kicking off with a soulful house groove featuring some sultry vocals in DEVolution's latest drop 'Gio'.

DEVolution - Gio Feat. Yeah Boy

A bouncy, grainy bassline melds with a soft round kick pair together nicely creating a soothing, tranquil groove. Parachute Youth's lead singer and frontman, Yeah Boy, lends his infectious voice to the track with inviting lyrics that ooze sensuality. Fluttering keys and airy environmental synths provide an ethereal environment allowing the melody to pulsate and flow freely. The composition and production of the track blend the harmonic fluidity of Jazz, soulful vocal prowess of RnB with the rhythmic sensibilites of downtempo disco. The track comes ahead of an exciting and much anticipated EP release called 'Same But Different' on a newly formed label, Good Company. According to the tracks notes this production has been in progress for the better part of a year that hope to display diverse if at times "contrasting styles" of DEVolution that have evolved over the years.A great example of that diversity can be heard in this energetic remix of Wiley's nod to soulful 90's anthems.

DEVOlution aka Pete Devereux originally established his career as half of the famed Artful Dodger crew. Since their split Devereux has pursued a number of projects and endeavors including this currently solo project. After releasing several notables remixes and a solid 4 track EP on Black Butter Records the dynamic producer decided to put his head down and begin working on the next evolution of his sound particularly in the form of today's track. To attempt to label this tastemaker or put him into any series of categories would be a gross misrepresentation to his production style and work ethic. It's easy to say that there's a lot more to come from Devereux, but really I'm on edge in anticipation of this fortcoming EP.Enjoy,MR PUZL
