Track of the Day: DJ Sneak - Funky Rhythm (Kreap Mix)
DJ Sneak - Funky Rhythm (Kreap Mix)
Diving back into the tracklist from our recent Guest Mix by Sunset Groove, I couldn't help but stop on this track more than a handful of times. Kreap puts together an awesome rework of DJ Sneak's 2004 classic jam 'Funky Rhythm' (via Robosoul Records) that definitely embodies the spirit of this week's mix.A full bodied pounding kick paired with, what sounds like a hi-hat with a shit ton of decay on it, open up this track with pure unadulterated energy. With swings abound, claps and snare hits dance in and out of the expertly crafted percussive layers building nicely into a dope synth loop reminiscent of the Korg MS2000 that's used in a few Daft Punk tunes from yesteryear. The original vocals still reign true, but Kreap expertly molds and layers ancillary elements to his composition to give the remix it's own identity. Raspy snares and a vibrant bass line groove go along with the disco-infused horns that command your heart and soul to gravitate to the dancefloor.DJ Sneak - Funky Rhythm - Original Mix (Robsoul)This Discount Kicks playlist is stacked full of free gems. Rather than doing the usual background and history of the artist I thought that placing his Soundcloud bio here would provided much more dynamic reading entertainment:"Yes, I do take commissioned remix work. I do it for money and its not an exorbitant fee. What I would constitute as an acceptable track to take on is a song with an original vocal, male or female. This doesnt mean sending me an mp3 of a loleatta holloway acapella or some kind of played out, generic piece of audio, I'm not your trained monkey ghost writing for you. (not for my less than exorbitant fee)If you do require ghost writing I will take your money and spend it on cocaine. Once the cocaine is finished I will precede to make threats of exposition & public disclosure to you thru private messaging until the cocaine is replenished, and so on.If you require a DJ for your club or event I'm more than happy to oblige. This will not mean we are instantly best friends and I'm producing your next track or we are collabing on your next EP. (See section above)Once I'm booked to play your club or event I will be more than happy to promote the said night, this does not mean I'll be sharing every one of your facebook posts for the next 5,000 nights you have on. I will however continue to promote your nights for a less than exorbitant fee.You can reach me here or on Facebook for a fast reply!"- KreapIf you haven't digested it yet, make sure to dive into Sunset Groove's guest mix:Enjoy,MR PUZL
