Track of the Day: Animal Picnic - Ethorica

Breaking the mold a bit today. Going to take things in a different direction from Cooper Savers guest mix today to review Animal Pinics forthcoming track from a label I have been greatly infatuated with since I first came across their off the wall album covers a couple of years ago, Steyoyoke.Todays track comes to you from Spanish producers Animal Picnic. 'Ethorica' is a deep techno roller that is filled with sweeping pads and progressive soundscapes that take the listener on an epic journey. Its only a snippet but gives a clear picture of what the full track will entail when it is released October 26th. This act is relatively new but has been making a huge impact in a very short amount of time. Taking the island of Ibiza by storm a couple years back they have been building solid catalog of releases with Sleazy Deep, Dear Deer Records and many others as well. Most recently, starting in 2015 they joined the Steyoyoke crew and have been on a tear as of late with their release schedule. You can check out the other track on their new EP below.Steyoyoke has some very interesting album art. It's actually what drew me to listen to their music at first. Album art is one of the things that I think has gone under appreciated as the vinyl era has more or less given way to the digital aspect of searching for and playing music. For me it is often a crucial and quick identifier when searching for tracks whether it be in crates of vinyl or through Rekordbox on the CDJ's. Steyoyoke's art is weird, wonderfully complex and beautiful at the same time and is a great visual representation of the music they have been putting forth. The music this label has been putting forth is some of the best stuff I hear these days. Thoughtful, well produced, full of bass and harmony with a completely fresh sound.
