Aaron Smith - Dancin (The Golden Boy Remix)

Aaron Smith's 2005 club hit 'Dancin' get's a shiny new outfit as The Golden Boy dresses it up with bright percussion arrangements and a funky new bassline. Not enough can be said about Aaron Smith's original tune and the JJ Flores & Steve Smooth Remix that followed catapulting the track into the proverbial dance stratosphere. The Golden Boy slows things down a bit for us and strips down most of the original pads and drums constructing some wonderful new harmonies and pushing the low frequencies of his bassline through with resounding success. I have to say my favorite thing about this remix is the kick, snare and clap swings that flow throughout the song. In some respects it harkens back to much earlier disco and dance rhythms and echoes their beautiful simplicity. While the obvious choice for the vocal sample is it's main chorus TGB does well to rework it without making it feel trite and cheesy. This among other tracks we've reviewed this week will most certainly make it onto the decks this weekend as Templeton takes Boatylicious by storm. There are still some tickets left so grab a few and bring some sailing pals:11066775_340942226104761_9138577745749382083_nDominic Hammonds aka The Golden Boy has been on the right track since he burst onto the scene with his incredible rework of Lauryn Hill's 'That Thing'. Eton Messy has eyes and ears for talent and they definitely have invested some serious time into developing TGB and for good reason. Nods from Pete Tong, remix requests from MK, and releases on Kitsune and Mike Mago's Bmkltsch Records are just a few things to mention. What sets The Golden Boy apart from others in his class is his ability to transcend old classics and revive and reinvigorate them into modern dance hits without the feeling that they are retro and rather timeless ode's to the masters of House. His latest EP 'The Promise' is a delightfully light affair with rising vocal samples and a signature bassline that in this case rides softly behind an array of percussive stabs and sound effects. We're looking forward to seeing what the rest of 2015 has to offer for The Golden Boy!Check out more amazing tunes from The Golden Boy below:Listen to this and other tracks from our recent Guest Mix by Templeton:Enjoy,MR PUZL
