Track of the Day: Stacey Pullen - ROK (Christian Smith & Wehbba Remix)
Came across this last night while doing some research and was really excited by this collaboration. Stacey Pullen, owner of Black Flag records and techno legend released 'ROK' about a month ago to the world along with this remix from these highly respected producers Christian Smith and Wehbba. On their own these two producers put together some of the best techno and tech-house on the planet. Starting off with a bass line and a pulsating synth in the background, the track grabs you right away as the groove sets in and the kick thumps away. I really love how the two play with the synth and bass line together throughout the track. After the intro Smith and Wehbba bring in a deep stabbing chord that bounces back and forth with the bass line really adding some punch to the groove. It is the type of track I can see my self getting down to as the sun sets on the beach in Ibiza or my new favorite Croatia where I got to play alongside Mr. Pullen in 2014.Christian Smith and Wehbba are two dudes that are high on my list when it comes to making music that you want to dance to for hours non stop. Smith has been at the game for over a decade and and I remember my first exposure to Wehbba when I was back in Ibiza in 2009. Wehbba who is originally from Brazil and now makes his home in Spain is performing all over the world. He regularly collaborates with Christian Smith who also happens to be the label boss/ owner of one of my favorite and according to beatport the #3 Techno label in the world, Tronic. I can only think of maybe one or two that could be on the same level, so I think that is fair. Outside of Tronic Smith is also producing for just about every label under the sun. Recently he just released 'Blast Off' for Tronic which was preceded by a release for Drumcode. If you want to hear some more form Wehbba and Smith check out a release from a few month back they did together for Tronic. There is so much more to say about these two really three amazing producers from the track of the day. I am certain we will revisit all of them again in the future.
