Track of the Day: Soul Button - Demise feat. Terry Grant (BLANCAh Remix)

Last night the LAMP crew went to Clinic at Couture in Hollywood to catch a very special night of music with the Steyoyoke label boss Soul Button and BLANCAh. If you are a regular follower of the blog then you may have seen some posts in the past featuring some of their other artists. I am in love with this label. It was incredible to finally get to see Soul Button live as well as BLANCAh who's productions have been finding their way into many of the sets I am playing. It is hard to play favorites with this label because everything is so damn good, but BLANCAh lately, has been standing tall from this group in my opinion. Her performance last night was easily for me one of the finest crafted sets I have heard all year. Since we have never featured her before here at LAMP, figured now was as good a time as any. Earlier this month the Steyoyoke family did a bunch of remixes for each other. BLANCAh took on 'Demise' which Soul Button put out in the beginning of the year. It features the pensive and gorgeous voice of Terry Grant. BLANCAh slowly builds the track piece by piece. A Spanish guitar plucks away at the beginning of the track while bits of atmospheric sounds fill the air in the background. The vocal pushes through, driving further along until the body shaking bass line kicks in and the track moves into overdrive. BLANCAh masterfully manipulates all of the instruments with in the mix. Sweeping arpeggios and a vibrant piano line bounce along throughout the arrangement keeping the song light and airy. It is a constant progression from start to finish. One of the Steyoyoke family since 2014 BLANCAh has been perfecting her sound for the last 15+ years from her start in Brazil to a world touring producer. Typically she can be found bouncing around her home country as well as Europe playing gigs. Occasionally as was the case last night we get her over here to North America. Honestly I think once more people really discover her she will be back a lot more often. I was happy to have the chance to speak with her for a minute. She is incredibly humble and it was cool to see her genuine excitement and nervousness as she was getting ready to go on after Soul Button. Then she got on the decks and absolutely slayed the place. The way she took control of the room and had last nights crowd in the palm of her hand was a sight to see and hear. Check it out for yourself below. She has quite a bit of music for you to get lost in on Soundcloud. If you are intrigued I highly recommend you dig deeper into her collection. I will post some more below the video for you to peruse. Enjoy.
