Track of the Day: East Cafe - Indian Summer (GMJ Seasonal Shift Mix)
This week for our Weekly Mix series, we have one of the members of the Undercurrent group here in Los Angeles, Aenera. He put together an incredible mix that will for sure take you on a journey. In addition, I was introduced to several new artists that I had not heard of previously. One of those being GMJ, who appears a couple of times in the track list, along with East Cafe. The second song in the mix, is GMJ's remix of 'Indian Summer' from East Cafe, published recently on Particle Records. Pulsating pads, rich bass lines and vocal elements create the atmosphere of the track. Combined with a groove that boundingly moves the track along, as the booming kick drops in and out of the arrangement. You are left with a track that has this sort of ebb and flow feel to it. It's as if you are watching the tide come in, slowly building itself up to its peak, before slowly drawing back on itself once again.As I mentioned these two artists East Cafe and GMJ both appear a couple of times together in Aenera's mix for us this week. East Cafe is Hungarian born Gábor Kaszás. He has been making his name putting together a variety of productions from Progressive house to Break-Beat as well as places in between. Recieving support from the legend Hernan Catanneo on this latest release 'Indian Summer' as well as other in the past. His remixing partner in crime for today is GMJ. Hailing from Melbourne Australia he is getting after things in a major way as well. Receiving support from some of the same heavy hitters as East Cafe such as John Digweed, Gui Boratto and Nick Warren just to name a few. Most recently he just started a new collaboration with Matter to release a new EP this last May. After spending a good time listening to their Soundcloud feeds these artists seem to be on the up and are making some incredible tech house bordering on the side of techno.
