Track of the Day: BLANCAh - Apuim
If you have been following along this week then you have most likely heard this weeks guest mix from Unique (Cro). Earlier this week we posted the a wonderful interview helping us to get an idea of what went into his selections for his mix along with the full track list which you can check out here. His mix starts of with one of the many new incredible tracks from the first full album by BLANCAh. We first featured BLANCAh here back in June of this year and have been following her progression over the last couple years as she regularly lights up the Steyoyoke label with her genius productions. Apuim is one of 10 new originals from her first full length album released September 30th this year. Startin off with a trippy little call and response synth the track sort of acts like an incoming tide. The flooding tide consisting of the intro synth that becomes the focal point of the track and the subtle groove that gradually builds up to a haunting vocal section at the climax of the build. At this point BLANCAh begins to masterfully unwind the track taking us softly away back out to sea with the ebbing flow.I had the opportunity to catch BLANCAh this year at Clinic in Hollywood when she was in town with Steyoyoke label head Soul Button. She is such a delightful person and oh boy does she know her way around the studio and DJ booth. The Brazilian native has been a major force in shaping what Steyoyoke is today. There is a ton of great music coming on that label all the time to be truthful, but for some reason BLANCAh has the ability to stand out among this outstanding group of artists. This is her first full length album to go with her slew of remixes and originals which get tons of plays from me when I am DJing and will continue to do so. Her star is rising quickly and no where near fading so do yourself a favor and get to know BLANCAh. Check out more of her tunes below and I strongly recommend picking up this latest LP from Steyoyoke if you haven't yet.If you missed it this week you can catch this weeks guest mix below along with the full interview and track listing here.
