Track of the Day: Alfred Heinrichs - Your Own Place

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas! But now that all the holiday cheer is behind us it is time to throw on some German minimal at an unreasonable volume. Today we have the perfect track for just such an occasion. Supdub Records label boss Alfred Heinrichs’ latest single, ‘Your Own Place’, is a masterpiece. While the lead in is quite heavy, during the first breakdown Heinrichs introduces a piano lick that shifts the entire tone of the piece. It definitely has its moments of industrial warehouse music, but the subtle ambient chords in the background and soulful vocal track almost make ‘Your Own Place’ feel like a house-y club hit at times. Heinrichs does a remarkable job of weaving the two contrasting tones together into a beautiful tune with this one. No surprise at all here. In 2003 Heinrichs started a project called ‘Heinrichs und Hirtenfellner’ along with fellow Berliner Sascha Braemer. Since then Heinrichs has become a staple of the techno community. His label, Supdub Records, has seen releases from some of the most talented names in techno and tech house production including Philip Bader, Nicone, and Dan Caster. Heinrichs has also seen much success as a solo artist. His 2013 album ‘Personal Magic’ reached #1 on Beatport’s minimal releases chart while his remix of Carlo Ruetz’s ‘Rage’, out last year on Deeperfect Records, peaked at #38 on Beatport’s top 100.That's it for 2016 for me!
