Today I thought I would reach back a couple months to a tune I came across while digging through the catalog of Guy Gerber’s infamous record label, Rumors. ‘Tacos Per Minute’ by Acid Mondays is a deep and sexy tune that found the perfect home at Rumors. The track features a pulsating bassline and echoing vocals that convey an eerie, almost ghostly soundscape. It makes me feel like I am traveling through a wormhole to an alternate dimension populated by tacos. Definitely heavy on the vibes. Since their debut release on Ralph Lawson’s 2020 Vision Recordings back in 2010, the pair have brought their original, trippy sound to a wide array of major record labels including Circus Recordings, Warp, and Compost. Acid Mondays are also quite capable remixers having collaborated with the likes of La Fleur, Yousef, and DJ Sneak. Negghead and Wolf have been on fire this year as they dropped a spectacular set at the Mixmag Lab in London last February and, more recently, played the Circoloco 18 year anniversary party in Ibiza.
