Track of the Day: Yan Cook - Toucan

Track of the Day: Yan Cook - Toucan

Not sure where to begin with Yan Cook. For all my techno heads out there that are not familiar or aware of Yan Cook it is time to get to know him. Over the last 4 almost 5 years I have seen this name bouncing around the techno scene. I have happily snatched up several of his EP/LP's over this time and can confidently say that this Ukrainian born producer is one of my favorite techno makers on the planet. I was looking through my collection and the first EP of his that I ever picked up "Ann Aimee" coincidentally is released on the same label as our track of the day today. A few days ago Delsin Records released the latest in their Inertia series with Cook's "Dialogue" EP. 4 new tracks make up this album starting off with our track of the day "Toucan". A crunchy synth that sounds like an alarm gone aery and booming kick doubled up on itself each bar make up the meat and potatoes of this late night warehouse banger. Like many of his productions "Toucan" has a very minimalistic style but is full of complex elements and layers that are too numerous to peal back. If I am being completely honest they are mixed so well together it is hard for me to pick out all of the individual elements and instruments Cook is using to make this and the rest of his masterful productions. Always pumping out new music Cook will definitely be someone you will want to be keeping an eye on. One of my favorite LP's to just hit play on track one and let i go through is his XX LP for Planet Rhythm. Ill link a preview for that below along with the rest of the EP that goes with our track of the day. Enjoy.
