Track of the Day: Tube & Berger, In.deed – Highness (Superlover Remix)
Tube & Berger released their ‘Entourage Remixed’ EP the other day and it is predictably full of bangers. The much anticipated follow up to last year’s ‘Entourage’ was released on 12/15/15 by Kittball Records. The new EP includes remixes from Superlover, German Brigante, and one of LAMP's personal favorites Joeski. Superlover’s Nu Disco remix of ‘Highness’, which Tube & Berger produced alongside up-and-comers In.deed, shines particularly bright on an EP full of quality tracks. Don’t listen to this one on computer speakers. Throw your headphones on. The track opens up with a light percussion line but that kick drum comes in quick. He pairs the kick drum with a deep electro bass line to accentuate the lows and drive the track. But it’s the staccato melody from the horns that really make the track stand out. When it all comes together over the airy synth piece you can’t help feeling a wide range of emotions. Really dope track. As are the other tracks on the EP which you can check out below.PZB touched on Superlover, AKA Ferri Borbás, a bit the other week but given that it’s my birthday tomorrow I’m going to stroke my ego a bit and talk a little more about why he’s such a boss. I wish that I could say that I had been following him for years but I also only discovered him very recently at the suggestion of a friend while visiting family in Chicago over Thanksgiving. Since then I’ve gone back and checked out a good chunk of his back catalog.Under the moniker Kassette Boys, Borbás and Click Click ran a label called Kassette Records. Together they released tracks from superstars like Oliver Dollar, Jimmy Edgar, and Volkoder. Since he started his solo project, Superlover, in 2011 with his release ‘Romance’ it has been clear that the man has his finger on the pulse of the Nu Disco sound. A lot of people throw the term “house” around rather liberally but Superlover’s music truly represents the natural evolution from traditional house music. His sound is consistently deep with fun, dynamic grooves. He’s just a funky dude who drops funky tracks. Definitely keep your eye out for him moving forward if you’re not already. Our label boss Mr. PUZL. is a devout Superlover fan himself so if you find yourself a little 'Restless' throw on his LAMP weekly mix #102.
