Tanzmann & Stefanik - Volta

For my last selection this week I wanted to go with a label and artists we have yet to feature here on our blog. With so much great music out there it is impossible to touch on everyone. Today it is with great pleasure I present to you one of the first tunes of the year for Moon Harbour Records put together by Matthias Tanzmann and Daniel Stefanik. Volta is on of two tracks on the EP with the same title by the pair who have teamed up for this special EP. This is a fun track that pulls the listener in a bunch of different directions. It starts of with a bit of a tribal groove to it as a soft pad pulsates in the background. Once the bass line kicks in the track takes on more of a bouncy tech house feel with some funky vocal cuts giving the song some added character. The part of the song that really draws you in is the funky lead that the artists play with in sort of an off beat, call and return sort of way. Along with that big ol' phatty kick and groovin' bass line these two knocked it out of the park.So I am a huge fan of Moon Harbour. One of my good buddies Aleksander Šerbinek aka Aleksander Madness was fortunate enough to release on their label a couple years ago so Im really stoked to finally get a chance to write about the label and the man who started it all Matthias Tanzman. If you are a fan of Techno and Tech House then you probably have heard the name before. If you haven't that's OK because you have now, and once you dive into this dudes vast library of productions and mixes you will need no further explanation as to why I am so stoked. As a producer he is top notch and his ear for recognizing talented music is shown in the high number and consistency of releases that Moon Harbour puts out. Here is a sample of 15 years of releases from his label Moon Harbour put out at the end of last year.Daniel Stafanik another German producer who has made his name synonymous with Techno and Tech house as well. His first release ever 'Them People' was for Moon Harbour Recordings along with Matthias Tanzmann in 2003. The duo have come together on many other occasions as well.Having been majorly influenced by Detroit Techno Stefanik has taken his talents and flourished. Becoming a highly sought after DJ for his incredible ability to craft his sets and move an audience. In addition to producing top level tech house and techno. You can find some his other productions on the one true techno god Sven Vath's Cocoon records. Some other notables include Pan Pot, Mobilee, Statik along with the labels he has co-founded Cargo Edition and Oh Yeah! Music. Make sure to check out today's track of the day and all of the other great tunes I got to throw in there this week. If you haven't heard it yet you can check it out below.
