Track of the Day: T. Raumschmiere - Wacker

I have really fallen behind the last few weeks on new releases. I finally got caught up last night and started going through everything today. One of my all time favorite labels for Techno and Tech House has got to be Kompakt Records. Between their Speicher Sublabel, the Digital label and all of the other imprints it is a great platform that is very creative and thoughtful with their releases. One of the new releases I just picked up is the latest single from Kompakt Digital and the first release from T. Raumschmiere's forth coming LP HEIMAT May 19th. A man of many musical talents he was part of a punk band in the 90's that did a heavy amount of touring thorough Europe. He has also had a very healthy touring schedule as T. Raumscmiere. He has been making music under that name since the late 90's and has built a rather impressive discography over the years. Coming from a Punk Rock background you might be a little caught off guard by "Wacker". I certainly was. Looking at the name of the artist and song title, along with the artwork I was expecting a darker, high energy techno piece. To my pleasant surprise, I was treated with a highly intelligent piece of music that is supremely elegant full of spirit. It oozes with ambiance while keeping things firmly grounded with a slightly over-driven kick that gives the track some pace without being overbearing. After having come across this single I am very intrigued and looking forward to the full release of HEIMAT in May.
