Track of the Day: S-File - Transmission (S-File 1Hundred Mix)
S-File - Transmission (S-File 1Hundred Mix)
Going back to the first week of LAMP Track of the Day selections you will find our appreciation and love for the label GND Records. Along the way we have talked about Sharooz, Turbo Turbo and label boss S-File. Today we have an exclusive drop to share with you to celebrate their 100th release which comes out on vinyl today and digital stores August 29th. This release focuses on a remix pack of S-File's EP 'Digital Disorder' which came out earlier this year. To honor this milestone properly S-File picked some heavy hitters featuring the likes of Mark Broom, Ben Long and long time GND producer Turbo Turbo. Our focus today though is on head honcho S-File's 1Hundred mix of 'Transmission'.A nice booming kick and tribal techno groove start things off and, not long after, an airy pad builds its way in as a quick snare gives a hint of what is to come. An insanely intricate and well mixed menagerie of percussive elements and stabs are revealed that drive away relentlessly from the moment they kick off. Compared to the original tune, which gets straight to the point, the features industrial style groove is more prevalent and focused on in this remix. I really like how the intro sort of eases you in and then just slams you in the face with the all of those drums. Also the kick is a bit more rounded out which really adds more body to the track. Definitely some pure driving techno to get your Monday started here at LAMP.S-File has been pioneering the techno and house scene since he began his career back in 1994. While running radio shows, underground raves and house parties he began building up a collection of music that he would begin releasing in 2009 and eventually go on to start his own imprint GND records on 2011. Having had the opportunity to play at some remarkable venues across the globe in Tokyo, Paris, Seoul, and Glasgow his reputation has solidified and he is constantly sought after for his high energy style of techno that keeps dance floors moving until the early ours of the morning. 2014 is the year that GND and S-File landed on the map for us here at LAMP. The subsequent years have been quite good for the label with 99 releases and with today release it officially makes it 100. They are a label we greatly respect and look forward to hearing what they put out next. Happy 100 to S-File and the family over at GND records.
