Today we have one from Washington DC based producer Rez EKbatan. EKbatan’s latest EP ‘Tough Love’ was released today on Chicago based label S&S Records. The title track of Ekbatan’s new EP fits that Chicago House sound to a T. It leads in with a loud symbol crash, a chopped up vocal, and some static but Ekbatan quickly brings in a deep kick and bouncy bassline that leave nothing to be desired. My favorite part is that wobbly synth chord that comes in for the verse. It makes me feel like I’m racing away from the cops down a city street on a rainy night. According to his bio, Ekbatan is highly inspired by British tech house DJ Mark Knight and that kind of sound has led him to opening for several widely known acts including Lee Foss, Danny Tenaglia, and Laidback Luke at a wide range of DC clubs like Flash, U Street Music Hall, and Echostreet. As a producer, Ekbatan has released for labels like T&A Records, Rot10, and now Steve ‘Silk’ Hurley’s and SJ Skip’s S&S. Releasing on a label like S&S is a major step forward in Ekbatan’s career seeing as the label boss is a 4-time Grammy nominated producer. Good things on the horizon for this young hardworking talent!
