Track of the Day: Reber - Mr. Dee (Rich NxT Rendition No.1)
I am thoroughly enjoying the start to this years Weekly Mix series. We will be having a whole host of new special Guests and of course LAMP family members and myself and PZB will be contributing. Strap in and get ready for another 52 weeks of curated mixtapes from across the globe. To start things off properly we've brought on Sacha Robotti, a recent Los Angeles transplant, to deliver the first #weeklymix of the year. He's also going to be performing at our 3 Year Anniversary at Skybar Mondrian January 23rd alongside our headlinder MANIK! Today we've got an exciting tune from Rich Nxt a sort of rendition remix of Reber's latest tune 'Mr. Dee' off of his EP Half an Hour via Disc Over Music.
Reber - Mr. Dee (Rich NxT Rendition No.1)
Big open kicks envelop your senses as this tracks opens up with heavily panned crash with a simple delay. A heavily washed out whirling, low synth stab is paired with a host of light percussive elements including a main rhythmic hi-hat hit that calmly drives the beat forward. A few snare, clap and FX one shots form the rest of the aforementioned percussive layers providing some character as the track slowly builds into some more diverse elements. About a 1 minute into the track we start to begin to hear the first elements of the lead synth coming in, a light sine wave piano stab with a bit of delay on the tail end that carries through the remaining beats of each bar. Slight variations to that core progression develop along with carefully placed swings in rhythm so as not to loose the audiences attention. The key with a long slow rolling track like this is to keep things interesting especially when you're going from something a deep as this, and Rich Nxt executes that extremely well. Check out the full EP belowRich Nxt is a London based producer that runs within the famed FUSE family and has been performing with them since the early stages of their inception all the way through their relaunch and beyond releasing a host of successful EPs and collaborations. His path and music certainly caught the attention of Tim Green and his imprint Disc Over Music. Rich NxT has accumulated and amassed a wealth of musical knowledge of the course of his career blending technology, technique and live instrumental elements into both his productions and performances. We definitely hope to see more from him and Tim Green's label this year.If you like free music then check out this collection of tunes from the FUSE family called the Lost Files EP.Also be sure to check out this track and others from our very special 2016 Guest Mix kickoff with Sacha Robotti this week.
