Track of the Day: Plastic Plates - Lose My Mind
Back at it this week with a host of new fresh tracks for your ears plus another awesome Guest Mix. Tomorrow we'll be featuring Massachusetts native Roman Perry and talking to him about his move to LA and what he's got in store for the next few months. Today I'm diving into something that popped up on my Soundcloud stream a few hours ago from Plastic Plates in the form of 'Lose My Mind'.
Plastic Plates - Lose My Mind
Plastic Plates kicks of this tracks with a complex collection of rim shots, snares, soft claps and rides. A warm open kick falls neatly under that crisp top layer of percussion while panning vocals echo in and out. A low key bassline begins to nurture the rhythm as the cutoff and resonance fluctuate subtly to allow for a secondary synth line on the same progression to build nicely into the headroom. Things really get interesting in the main breakdown when all of the layers slowly start to converge in the absence of the kick leading into a wonderful drop that has uplifting energy but isn't too grandiose. 'Lose My Mind' is a welcomed departure from some of Plastic Plate's brighter sounds of late as he introduces deeper rhythms and heavier low end registers that build anticipation for whats to come off of the rest of this EP release. For something closer to the other end of the spectrum for Plastic Plates, check out this daytime favorite 'Cool For The Summer' that he remixed a few months back:The EP also titled 'Lose My Mind' is coming out on the unfamiliar Intuit Records on October 9th. As far as we have been able to discern, the label is supported by Felix himself and is based here in Los Angeles. To mark its launch the imprint released a fantastic tune by Sam Sparro called 'Hands Up' earlier on this summer. I'm sure more will be revealed to us after this forthcoming release, and we certainly look forward to it.We were fortunate to have this incredibly talented dude on our #weeklymix series earlier this year, check out what he cooked up for us below:Enjoy,MR PUZL
