Track of the Day - Moby - Walk With Me (Carl Cox Remix)

I usually try to keep our weekly mixes as fresh and new as possible. However I also like to throw in some of my favorites from the past as well. This week with so many tracks in the mix there was an opportunity to put a couple of my favorites and classic tracks. Like this one up above from Moby. Originally released as part of his Wait For Me album in 2009, Carl Cox (the baddest man on the planet) got his hands on this and remixed the shit out of it one of the remix pack follow ups. Taking the signature vocal from the original track Cox puts a big phat driving bass line on top of a massive kick. Utilizing his vast knowledge of dance music he creates a thumping groove with stimulating hits and percussive FX. Ramping up the energy in the track are a suite of driving synths that elevate the track to the next level. It's great to have an opportunity to review this track today. These are two of my all time favorites and provided me with some of my first experiences in club and dance music back in the mid and late 90's. You can tell Cox had quite the field day with this track. It is a very different take on Moby's mostly vocal original. Check out the original from Moby down below.Having a platform to talk about some of my favorite music and artists I often find myself telling people about where the artist came from and what labels they are producing for. Switching gears a little bit I figured I would tell you guys about some of my own personal experiences with these two artists. I have been very fortunate to have had many experiences with these two gentlemen over the last 15 years and one where I got two experience them both together.Going back to 1999 when I first set foot on the polo fields, before they had tents for every stage. One of my favorite shows to date was watching LA native Moby perform a live set for the first time underneath a clear and beautiful desert sky. This to date is still one of my top 10 live performances. Ranking up there with some of the Chemical Brothers, Underworld, Radiohead and Depeche Mode shows. One of my other favorite experiences with Moby actually makes for a nice coincidence as it occurred at a Carl Cox and Friends show the same year as this track released in 2009. Hands down one of the best DJ sets Ive ever heard from Moby and to see him and Cox back 2 Back on the same night was something that was truly incredible.Oh Yes, Oh Yes, Oh Yes...The baddest man on the planet when it comes to a set of turntables and a mixer in my opinion is Mr. Carl Cox. There is no DJ on the planet I would rather move my two feet in front, behind, next to, what ever than this DJ right here. Having been crushing dance floors for the better part of three decades Cox is an ambassador for dance music in so many ways. He gets his own stage at many of the worlds biggest festivals. Owns one of the biggest weekly nights at the best club in the world Space Ibiza and is just an all around fun and nice dude. I have had the pleasure of meeting him on a few occasions while I was in Ibiza the summer of 2009 and nothing beats watching the man work from behind the booth at Space. I will never pass up an opportunity to watch this man work.Luickily he likes to come to Los Angeles and So Cal quite a bit so make sure you get out there and check him out the next time hes in town.Check out todays track of the day alog with all of the other amazing productions in our 100th LAMP Weekly mix put together by yours truly.
