Track of the Day: Matt Hughes - Rodeo Warrior
Matt Hughes - Rodeo Warrior
'Rodeo Warrior' by Matt Hughes is a journey into funky grooves and beats woven together into a modern disco jam that cleverly weaves in elements of the classics. The track kicks off with a deep bass line that bounces from note to note as an electric guitar lick lands gently between each kick. As if the groove wasn't enough as it stands, a sexy saxophone sample is introduced to the mixture rounding out a track that is reminiscent of a smokey jazz lounge jam session. Layer after layer of smooth melodies float in and out of and underlying drum rhythm that only breaks its stride during a percussion infused breakdown about half way through the song. Hughes mentions in several of his profiles that he draws inspiration form early Daft Punk which is clearly present in this and other releases. The beauty and simplicity of this track make it perfect to play and some faster tempos, and provides excellent layering and mixing between other tracks.Dive a little deeper into Matt Hughes' collection here:Matt Hughes is a Brighton (UK) based producer that has established a healthy collection of modern disco releases and remixes, under several projects over the past decade.
