Track of the Day: Lauren Ritter - Swoon

Ritter has been working on this EP for some time now and the final product demonstrates her dedication spectacularly. The EP spans from ‘Form Constant’, the first track that Ritter ever produced, to ‘Swoon’, her most recent. ‘Swoon’ is flat out beautiful. When I think of an All Day I Dream track, this is the sound that comes to mind. This is a prototypical ambient house track that hammers ‘ethereal’ straight on the head. Ritter recently told When We Dip that she heard the main piano melody for ‘Swoon’ in a dream. A fitting story for the final piece of the puzzle that became her All Day I Dream debut release.[soundcloud url="https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/218190128" params="color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false" width="100%" height="166" iframe="true" /]Lauren Ritter is based out of Brooklyn and has been a staple of Lee Burridge’s All Day I Dream crew as a DJ for a couple of years now. Although Ritter contributed the ethereal ‘Glass Hours’ to All Day I Dream’s ‘SUMMER SAMPLER’ last year, ‘Lark EP’ marks her first EP for the label as a producer. Ritter, a classically trained viola player, traces her interest in electronic music to her father’s record collection. In a recent interview she fondly recalls listening to his copy of Jean Michel Jarre’s ‘Oxygéne.
