Track of the Day: Kraak & Smaak: My Mind's Made Up (feat. Berenice)

Tonight is the night. I am excited beyond words to have the opportunity to open for this incredible Dutch band Kraak & Smaak. Channeling my excitement into a track of the day post to get you all pumped up as well and familiarize you if you're not. There is so much to choose from from their catalog. For today though were gonna go with one of their newer tracks 'My Mind's Made Up'. Released a few month ago this track is a great example of what you can expect from the style of this group. A bit of funk and a bit of disco wrapped up into one while Berenice lends some expert vocals to take the listener to a magical place. Everything in this track is so well thought out from start to finish. A funky Bass line groove and guitar riffs get the track started, as the song builds some very spirited synths join into the mix moving up and down the scale and fluttereing all over the place like a butterfly on the wind. The song just isn't what it is though with out the expert talents of Berenice and the vocal track which you can't help but find yourself singing along to by the end of it.Where do I start with this act. The product of three Dutch dudes (Oscar de Jong, Mark Kneppers, Wim Plug) who were really breaking new ground for their day back in 2005 Amsterdam. Dance Culture is strong there but there was nothing in the Dutch region that even remotely resembled a live dance act. Originally just supposed to be a one off album the Dutch ate it up getting opportunities to play at some of the biggest festival stages in Holland and across the globe, their career skyrockets from there. My first exposure to them was back when they came to Coachella I believe in '06 or '07. Ive litterally been to every single Coachella so they start to blur together at a certain point. These guys though are up there with Chemical Brothers, Underworld, Thievery Corp. and Moby when it comes to must see live acts as well. In addition to the three original member often vocalist and other artist will join them on stage once again elevating their live performance aspect. Im over the moon about the opportunity to join them on stage and hope you will join us as well.
