Track of the Day: Just Her - Safe Out There
Track of the Day: Just Her - Safe Out There
After spending the weekend taking in nearly 100 hours of music at Desert Hearts its time to get back in the mix with the track of the day. One of the things the festival is known for is its never ending music over the span of 3 and for this special edition 4 days and nights of non stop music. Some of the highlights of the weekend with some deep and melodic techno sets that are more journey than just simply music to dance to were Kate Simko and Olivier Giacomotto. Which got me searching when I came back in preparation for some of our own desert shenanigans coming up soon. One of the first places I am going to for this style of melodic techno is Save Us Records. With their main roster talents of Jonas Saalbach, Andrea Ljekaj, and Yokoo naming a few we have been big fans of what their label has been putting out this year. Most recently they have teamed up with Just Her of Him_Self_Her for the labels 11th full EP release. The 4th track on the EP "Safe Out There" is one that takes you on a journey. In this preview an eerie vocal track works its way in with light and airy synths and pads as the kick drives away dropping out briefly to make room for the brooding bass line that comes charging in to get the groove moving at full speed. This is just one of 4 tracks on this EP and one of many in her library not including her work with Him_Self_Her. In addition to her vast production skills Just Her has also recently launched a record label of her own called Constant Circles which has also been making waves in the Techno and House scenes as of late. Check out some of the tracks they have available for free on the labels SoundCloud page.I also wanted to take a minute today and showcase the man behind all of the incredible album art for Save Us Records, Šumski. Based out of Rijeka Croatia this young and extremely talented artists is making a name for himself as graphic designer, painter and installation artist. The following is an excerpt from the Bio on his Facebook page: "Šumski (Sylvan, of the forest) is one of those people who still consider a forest to be their home...His illustrations, which are actually stories, are imbued with eternal inspiration and peace which he finds in these inner landscapes. The process of observing and painting his inner landscapes has encouraged him to set off on cosmic paths because he understands that he is nothing in comparison with everything and yet not smaller than the stars among which he sails on his space ship, exploring his own universe."
We also have an incredible guest mix from L'affaire Musicale Resident selector Maikol this week so make sure to check that out as well.
