Track of the Day: Groove Armada - At The River

Running a bit behind today. I did not forget about our track of the day though don't you worry. I decided to go with a throwback track today from the masters Groove Armada. We all go through little rough patches in life some worse than others and hopefully nothing that you can't bounce back from. Music has always played a pivotal role in that process for me and one song in particular that is sure to brighten my day when ever I hear it is "At The River" by Groove Armada. This track has been around since the late nineties and is taken from an old Patti Page song from the 50's "Old Cape Cod". The Violin chorus at the beginning and through out the track is very reminiscent of an old classic Hollywood movie soundtrack and just oozes with character. THe star of the track for me though has to be the trombone. The overall timbre of the instrument and the way it effortlessly cuts through the groove is extremely soulful and uplifting. It may seem somewhat melancholy to some but something about it for me just puts a smile on my face. Groove Armada are one of the few acts I can point to that I have been following since the 90's that are still on fire today. Constantly pumping out new tunes and collaborations with a huge assortment of artists. Make sure you give them a listen and dive into their SoundCloud if you are just discovering them.
