Track of the Day: Eats Everything - Big Discs
Track of the Day: Eats Everything - Big Discs
The mix from Birdee this week has definitely got me on more of a disco vibe these past few days. Was going through some of the more recent releases from some of my favorite labels and this funky, guitar riff grabbed my attention. One of the latest releases from Pets Records and Eats Everything, 'Big Discs' is an interesting kind of tech-house meets the 70's and 80's. One of those straight up dance tunes that the UK legend is known for (seriously looking forward to using this one next time I play out). Working those strong 70's vibes with the plucky guitar riffs and high energy vocal samples filling the mix along with a slew of fun FX and a trippy sliding synth in the middle of the track giving it a distinct disco feel. Sometimes when I'm writing these posts I try to imagine the perfect location where an event takes place and I'm hearing this track. What setting would that be and where. For this track I almost immediately pictured my self maybe back a decade or two at a block party on a perfectly hot summer day in New York City with fire hydrants pumping water into the street while kids and adults alike are having pretty much the best day ever. Hands flying in the air and people basically just losing their minds. The track just oozes of fun and excitement.Eats Everything has been on my radar ever since his track 'Entrance Song' came out back in 2011. Since then he has pretty much become a house hold name in booty thumping house and tech house. Following that up with a slew of incredible releases for Dirtybird, Turbo, Southern Fried and the list goes on for days. His ability behind the turntables is what sets him apart from most other producers though. Consistently forging new ideas and taking the craft into realms that most people wouldn't even dream of. He is highly sought after by major manufacturing companies like Pioneer for his creativity, knowledge and input on what ever new equipment that might be in development. I have witnessed his performances in person and can attest to his incredible talent. I wasn't able to attend this last week but he just stopped in to LA as he does often. I talked to a few people who were in attendance and was informed of major levels of blown minds, he was that good.Ive watched a few videos he has been featured in and one of the things that stood out to me is his creativity and meticulous preparation when it comes to djing, whether it be on a stage in front of thousands at a festival or in an intimate club setting with 500 people. He is one of those that are truly into for the love of the music and the art of performing it live. Ive also been told he likes to get into it and have some fun with his fans on twitter from time to time. He once got into it with Mr Puzl over support of their respective clubs over there in the Premier League. It was an entertaining exchange. Enjoy and make sure to check out his extensive catalog of tunes on SoundCloudIf you need even more disco in your life let Birdee and his guest mix for us this week be the soundtrack to an hour of your work day today. I promise you'll be dancing in you office chair so hard you might break it.
