Track of the Day: Denney – Low Frequency (Shiba San Remix)We have another Track of the Day mashup post today from the creator of this weeks mix Devoe. Today he focuses on his mashup of the Shiba San remix of 'Low Frequency' by Denny and his own remix of 'Settle The Score ' from Moralz. We'll let him take it from here.

Denney – Low Frequency (Shiba San Remix)/Moralz – Settle The Score (Jeff Devoe Remix)

Devoe: Shiba San has been pumping out dancefloor killers as of late and his remix of Denney’s “Low Frequency” (Hot Creations) is no exception. The original utilizes a phat analog 303 style bassline to make its point on the dancefloor. Shiba San keeps the 303 bass, but opens the filter a bit more for a higher frequency character (ironic…since low frequency…ha). He also adds a bit more energy to the drums than the original. Shiba San’s drum programming helps the tune to feel more fluid and really gets the track off its feet. I’ve been playing this track out for several gigs and it gets the dance moving every time. When people hear the vocal hook “Rock me with your lower frequency…feel the bass” and then the bassline drops you HAVE to dance. A++!Right after “Low Frequency” I mix in a brand new tech house jam I just finished, my remix of Moralz “Settle The Score”. Moralz is a future bass project by my good friend Jo-S. His album with “Settle The Score” will be out May 9th on Free Love Digi. My remix will be part of the remix album and that will be coming out in June. Wish I could give you guys a clip of the remix at the moment, but it’s all under wraps and hush hush. Take a listen to Moralz original though! It’s a great tune!Joey and I have worked on several projects together including some Drum & Bass tracks, and we even had a little band going with him djing DnB, Audio Angel on vocals and myself on the sax (super fun project and I miss it)! So when Joey asked me to remix one of the tracks for his new E.P. I was all about it! I chose Settle The Score because the track had this really dark, ripping filtered bassline, and some great breakbeat work. I have always wanted to try and inject DnB elements into a tech house track and this was a perfect excuse to satisfy that urge. I cut up the original bassline, but put some more filter and effect work to it. I used the higher frequency portions as a top layer over a bouncy 808 sub bass. These elements play together in a call and response pattern over the track. I used some of the breakbeats from Moralz original as a layer to fill up the drum parts and they help to keep the track running. I also fit in some of the “Do The Do” drum break drum fills at the end of some phrases (Moralz did this in his original). This Kurtis Blow drum break has been used in a ton of dnb (Adam F “Circles”, LTJ Bukem “Horizons” anyone). I’ve used it a billion times in my own dnb tracks, but it was my first time using a classic breakbeat in a house track and yep…gonna be doing that again. Be sure to check out Moralz's E.P. on Free Love Digi when it breaks on May 9th and the remix album in June. Trust, there are some heavyweights on the remix album…gonna be huge!!
