Track of the Day: Wade - Disco Breakin
It's been a little while since we've entertained some tracks from our feline friends over at Suara for a Track of the Day review, but this week I saw the perfect opportunity to jump right back in. I'm always keep tabs on their catalog and in all fairness both PZB and I could probably dedicate an entire blog just to reviewing Coyu's band of merry cats, but where's the fun in that, haha! I digress. Today, in honor of a certain social-media-designated, pseudo-holiday, post-frenzy known as #TBT I've chosen a fresh new drop from Wade called 'Disco Breakin'. Honestly, I'm not sure how we haven't sat down and reviewed his music before, there's a treasure trove of sounds pouring out of him at any given time, year what have you...
Wade - Disco Breakin
It's no holds barred with this track. Right from the outset a heavily compressed and raw kick smacks you straight in the jaw. Gotta love the ricocheted bullet impact that opens up the tune. Tinny percussions and super tight shakers formulate the underlying components of the drums, before a host of vocal samples, and a few FX pads lead into a heavy transition. A full on gritty, aggressive bass line knocks you to the floor with it's simple but powerful direct and pulsating groove. For some of us who grew up before the millennium you'll probably have picked up on the vocals. Yup! Beastie Boys! If you're wondering why I was considering this a throwback because through and through it ultimately is. Full respect to Wade, and this incredible rendition, but from a technical standpoint this would be considered by many as a remix of 'Shake Your Rump'. Regardless, the flow, energy and approach to the composition really make it its own track and pay appropriate homage to the bad boys of New York City. All in all this took me back and served up a welcoming dose of pure thumping, jackin' house that's going into my next house set for sure! I know my boys over at Spira/Rawsome Records are probably eating this one, eh Tom?Beastie Boys - Shake Your RumpJuan Carlos Cruz Lopez aka Wade is an artist hailing from Seville, Spain and is a staple among the Suara family. He's released on a host of prominent labels such as Relief, Viva Music, Avotre, Lost Records, and much more (seriously a shit ton more). He's also not shy about sharing the studio with other artists when it comes to producing. His collaborative endeavors have seen him work with the likes of Jay Lumen, PAWSA, Artslaves, Andres Santana and his list of remixes could take a whole blog post to write about. The range and diversity in his work demonstrates his boundless production knowledge and ability to create new synthesized sounds while weaving in an array of house music's classic, quintessential sounds. If you're a avid shopper and supporter of music these days you'll probably have noticed that his tracks feature predominantly on charts across stores and that is a testament to the widely received success and support Wade's music gets on a regular basis from DJs worldwide. Here's a brief rundown of some of Wade's exceptional work:Enjoy,MR PUZL
