Track of the Day: VONDA7 - Decompression

Feels like I have been away for a while. After last weeks mix extravaganza and with Mikey and PUZL taking over the last few reviews it has bee almost two weeks since my last review. I have a very nice treat for you all today from a very talented young woman VONDA7. My first exposure to her music came via her releases with Save Us Records. Her remixes and originals for them gained my rather serious attention and I have been keeping close tabs ever since. Her deep melodic style is one that has also been gathering attention from some of the best techno labels out there. With releases coming from Einmusika, Kraftek, Lost & Found, and Suara and a healthy touring schedule across the globe she is some one who you should be keeping an eye on if this genre is for you. Her latest release Decompression which features 4 new tracks (3 originals and one remix from Secondcity) wsa released with Last Night On Earth last week and is solid all the way through. For our Track of the Day I chose to go with the title track "Decompression". This track nails you right in the face from the drop of the first kick drum. I nice hollowed out and boomy sounding kick that will make your house shake and have your neighbors calling the cops. Along with the high hats, a lot of reverb, some whispy pads, and a few percs this track is incredibly militaristic. That is until about 3 minutes into the track when she introduces a compelling synth that breaks the relentless beat for a brief moment before slamming the groove back in and driving the track out till the end in a similar fashion to its beginning. The rest of the EP is amazing as well. Really showing her wide ranging style from Techno to Deep House and the places in between. The full EP is below along with a couple other releases for you to explore. Enjoy.
