Track of the Day: Sleepy Cat - 'On & On'
Sleepy Cat - On & On
Getting a set started takes a certain type of track and “On & On” most certainly brings that “jump off” element to the table. Big thunderous bass lines build into a combination of tight percussion stabs and vocal loops that drop into a funky groove that epitomizes a deep house track.Sleepy Cat started producing and creating original music in 2005 and since then he has already amassed a healthy collection of tracks under various aliases. His approach has continuously developed over time covering genres ranging from hip-hop and R&B to electro and deep house. His style centers around sourcing and recording high quality vocals, layered over smooth synths and wonderfully crafted bass lines. He draws his inspiration from the likes of Gorgon City and Motez as well with Old School Hip-Hop, R&B, and Soul. His recent remix release of Calvin Harris’ classic “Flashback“ has already generated great response among fans and peers. An ambitious attempt at the classic Notorious B.I.G.’s “Hypnotize” was met with incredibly positive feedback from EDM Tunes. His rework of Mary J Blige’s “Real Love” has also garnered media praise from music sites such as Kick Kick Snare, Dance Floor Mayhem, Nerdy Frames as well as MOARRR for his remix of Adrina Howard’s “Freak Like Me”. His collaboration with Templeton in June, a new take on BANK’s “Waiting Game”, has already reached 25K plays on Soundcloud.Sleepy Cat has appeared in clubs up and down the West Coast from San Francisco’s legendary 1015 (as well as Temple and Slide) to LA premiere clubs Exchange LA, Lure, the Colony and My House (now The Emerson Theatre).
